Packing your emergency kit

An emergency kit is absolutely essential, just as much as a first aid kit. If anything happens, from flooding to wildfires, and you are suddenly in a less than ideal situation, your emergency kit is your first line of defence to keep your location known, your energy up and your family alive.

Packing an emergency kit is fairly cheap and simple, it just takes a bit of effort to bring it all together in somewhere quick and easy to grab in an emergency.

So today, lets get this job done and get you packed for an emergency.

The Bag

First things first, we need to get you a bag. This bag is where you will keep the rest of your kit safe and dry, as well as making it easy to grab in 1 go and keep with you if you have to evacuate your home.

The bag should be:

  • Big enough to store what you need
  • Safe against the elements
  • Easily accessible
